J Staub, Medaille D’or

Unique art deco case with premium sound.

J Staub Medaille D’Or (gold medal) Paris piano, fabricated in 1930 by Jean Joseph Staub. 

This is an extremely rare piano in Australia, from a reputable French piano maker, privately imported by a family emigrating to Australia over 60 years ago. The piano case is a stunning art deco design with a rosewood finish.

This piano has had a nearly complete mechanical restoration as a collaboration project between Eliza Mithen Pianos and Andrew Gooden & Co. This includes a restring using the highest quality Roslau Blue (German) treble wire and revamped original French bass strings, full original ivory keyboard restoration, and a full action rebuild, including install of custom finest quality Abel hammers, made in Germany.

This Medaille D’Or has a full, rich tone and is very dynamic and versatile. Tuned to A440 concert pitch and regulated to give expertly responsive, even touch, and a joyful playing experience.
